Chandigarh, May 31 (UNI) Haryana State Cooperative Labour and Construction Federation Ltd Chairman Tekram Kandela thanked Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for releasing an amount of Rs 350 crore to the cooperative sugar mills to clear the pending payment of sugarcane farmers for last fiscal.
In a statement here on Friday, Mr Kandela, who is also national president of Jan Kalyan Manch, said the finance department on the directives of the Chief Minister has released Rs 350 crore. This amount will be utilised by cooperative sugar mills to pay the arrears of sugarcane growers for crushing season 2018-19.
He also expressed gratitude to Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar and Minister of State for Cooperation Manish Grover and said that all possible efforts were being made for the uplift of the farming community in the state. In addition to maximum price of sugarcane, government is also providing remunerative prices of produce to the farmers.
Instead of familism and nepotism, the policies and programmes of the present state government focuses on uplift of poor, deprived, backward, women, youth, peasants etc. who have always been neglected during previous regimes. The present government has promoting various developmental programmes to preserving interests of these people, he added.
Mr Kandela said that fruitful efforts are being made to double the income of farmers by year 2022. In case of any loss to crops due to natural calamity, farmers were also being compensated under crop insurance scheme and other policies of the government. “The interests of farmers are paramount and present government considers their welfare on priority and would not allow them to face any adverse situation”, he added.
