Rising incidents of bisons destroying plantations cause anger among farmers

Canacona: The rising incidents of bison entering the sugarcane fields is causing anger among farmers in Yedda and Baddem wards of Cotigao village, reports The Times of India.

The intrusion of bison in the sugarcane fields has caused heavy losses to the cane crops, said farmers. They said that a herd of 10 bison entered the fields damaging cane crops.

The affected farmers are planning to apply for compensation and expect the agriculture department to survey the damaged cane crops by wild animals periodically.

The agriculture office has however stated that it has not received any application for compensation and stated that if the department receives any application it would forward soon.
