Lucknow: Rashtriya Lok Dal has demanded the government to pay the sugarcane dues of farmers on a priority basis, reports The Times of India.
Anil Dubey, spokesperson for the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), announced that the party plans to submit a memorandum to district authorities throughout the state. He emphasized that if sufficient measures are not taken to address the concerns of sugarcane growers, the party will organize demonstrations. Notably, RLD Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) recently met with the Chief Minister to stress the importance of timely payment of dues to cane farmers.
Dubey underscored that sugarcane serves as the core source of livelihood for not only farmers and laborers but also for traders in Uttar Pradesh. He pointed out that substantial amounts, totaling thousands of crores, remain unpaid to the farmers.
Dubey outlined that the RLD will demand action against the sugar mills found to be at fault and will advocate for the prompt clearance of sugarcane dues, along with interest, without any unnecessary delays.
