RLD MLAs to protest over pending cane dues

Shamli: Taking the issue of pending cane dues, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary has asked all party MLAs to launch protests outside sugar mills in the state, reports The Times of India.

The first such agitation will be held on August 8 at Shamli sugar mill.
Prasanna Chaudhary, MLA from Shamli said, “As per the rule, farmers should get their cane bills within 14 days of the procurement of crops. But the mills are delaying the cane payment”.

“We have asked the sugar mills to clear the pending cane dues as early as possible and are ensuring that the farmers get their dues before the start of the next crushing season,” said Vijay Bahadur Singh, district cane officer of Shamli.
