Lucknow: The state government should immediately announce a remunerative State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane for the 2022-23 season, demanded Jayant Chaudhary, president of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and member of Rajya Sabha, reports Hindustan Times.
He has written a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath in this regard and asked him to ensure that the farmers get the payment of cane dues within 14 days after they supply cane to the mill.
The government has not yet announced the SAP for the cane though half the crushing season has been over, pointed out the RLD spokesperson Anil Dubey.
In a letter, Jayant said, “Farmers are forced to send their cane to the sugar mills without knowing the price of their produce. Last year the government declared SAP in September, ahead of state assembly elections but this year farmers have no idea about SAP for the cane.”
