Rs 2,221.45 crore will be contributed through ethanol production to the state’s GDP in UP: Minister

Lucknow: The ethanol production in the state would contribute Rs 2,221.45 crore to the state’s Gross Domestic Production, said Minister of State for Excise (Independent Charge) Nitin Agarwal on Monday, reports UNIIndia.

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a major ethanol producer in the country and the state is supplying ethanol to the oil companies under Ethanol Blending Programme, he said.

“Around 115 crore bulk litre ethanol was produced last year. This year the annual ethanol production target is 140 crore bulk litres. In 100 days, 45 crore bulk liters of ethanol was to be produced against which 45.17 crore bulk liter ethanol was produced. Thus the target of 100.4 per cent has been met by ethanol production,” he said.
