Rs 55 lakh compensation to the workers killed in sugar factory blast

Kakinada: The families of two of the workers killed in the Parry sugars refinery blast will get compensation of Rs 55 lakh each, said Kakinada District Collector Kritika Shukla, reports UNIINDIA.

The blast occurred in Vakalpudi industrial area on Friday in which Veera Venkata Satyanarayana and Veeramalla Rajeswerarao were killed.

The Parry sugars management will pay Rs 40 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased, she said. They will also get Rs 10 lakh insurance under labour law and Rs 5 lakh from the YSR Bima scheme, she added.

A fact-finding committee headed by the Joint collector was appointed to probe the reason behind the tragedy and the report is expected within a week, said the Collector.
