Mumbai, Jun 19 (UNI) The Rupee on Wednesday appreciated by 21 paise to 69.49 against the US dollar in early trade on selling of the American currency by bankers and exporters, dealer at Forex Market said.
Positive opening in domestic equities and foreign fund inflows supported the domestic currency.
Forex traders said investors are awaiting the outcome of the monetary policy of Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), Bank of England and Bank of Japan, scheduled this week.
The Rupee opened strong at 69.57 at the interbank forex market, then gained further ground to touch 69.49 per dollar, displaying gains of 21 paise against the greenback.
High fluctuation was seen during intra-day session as it registered day high and low at 69.65 and 69.49 respectively.
On Monday, the domestic unit settled at 69.70 against the US dollar, up by 20 paise.
