Gagalheri (Saharanpur): Sugarcane farmers under the banner of BKU launched sit-in agitation at the Daya sugar mill premises on Friday demanding clearance of pending cane dues. They have stated that their agitation will continue till they get their cane payment.
The farmers along with the activists arrived at the mill premises at around 10 am and started demanding clearance of pending cane dues.
According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, Anup Singh, taluka head of the organisation said, “Sugarcane farmers had asked the mill to clear the pending cane dues by July 7 and administration assured that all the dues will be cleared by July 15. However, the mill administration has not cleared any dues and we are forced to launch sit-in agitation in the mill premises. We have launched agitation since morning but no one has taken note of it.”
The farmers have warned the mill administration that they will continue the sit-in agitation till the mill administration transfers the pending cane dues to their bank accounts.
