Saharanpur: Sugar mills expected to commence crushing season from October 28

Saharanpur: The sugar mills in the Saharanpur district have announced that they will start the crushing season in last week of October. The first mill to start crushing will be the Todarpur Sugar Mill on October 28th, 2023, reported Amar Ujala.

All of the sugar mills in Saharanpur, including the Bidvi and Todarpur mills, which have been closed for a long time, will be operational this season. The sugarcane department is closely monitoring the repair work of the sugar mills to ensure that they are ready to start crushing on time.

According to the sugarcane department report, an average of 70% of the repair work has been completed in all of the sugar mills in Saharanpur. This includes work on the mill house, boiling house, powerhouse, and boiler.

This season, the sugarcane area in Saharanpur is 121,754 hectares. The operation of the two mills that have been closed for a long time is expected to lead to competition among the mills for sugarcane. All of the mills will be trying to procure as much sugarcane as possible.
