Lucknow: Samajwadi Party has attacked the Yogi Adityanath government for not clearing cane dues of the sugarcane farmers and delaying the clearance of existing cane dues.
Akhilesh Yadav, president, SP said the BJP had promised to double the farmers’ income but its actions indicate that it is insensitive to the grievances of the farmers.
He said, “Since last four years, the BJP government has not hiked the sugarcane SAP and farmers are facing financial stress as the input costs of cane are increasing every year. The SP government had in 2012 hiked the SAP by Rs 40 per quintal,”.
“Delay in cane payment has devastated the rural economy. Cane farmers are still waiting for the clearance of dues from the last crushing season,” he further added.
