Panjim, Goa: Taking a step towards the revival of the Sanjivani sugar factory, the state government has transferred it from cooperative department to the agriculture department. Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that the cabinet passed a resolution in this regard.
The step will help the sugar factory to get benefits from the various schemes under the central schemes of the agriculture department.
Chief Minister, on Tuesday, assured the cane farmers that the government will not shut the factory and is finding options for its revival. He also directed the sugarcane cultivators to continue growing cane.
The factory had stopped operations from the last two years due to heavy financial losses.
