Save Nigeria Project announces collaboration with South Korean firm to establish four ethanol plants

The Save Nigeria Project has announced that it is going to ally with one South Korean firm to set up four ethanol plants in this country, thereby creating more jobs for the farmers of Nigeria to enrich the economy, reports Nigerian Tribune.

Plants, to be located in the States of Osun, Kwara, Enugu, and Akwa Ibom, will make use of cassava as their feedstock. As announced by SNP President Dr Charles Chukwu, a Memorandum of Cooperation is due to be signed to formalize the said collaboration.

This is in line with the initiative of the Nigerian government toward the establishment of a bio-energy sector, being part of its sustainable development agenda, as envisioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to Dr. Chukwu, the project was initiated due to the need to reduce the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels and to eventually have clean cooking fuels.

This will help in making a local ethanol industry that will help reduce dependency on the international market, thus controlling the prices of cooking fuel and avoiding extreme fluctuations. This project is therefore going to create employment for the citizens of Nigeria. In this regard, UYAN is going to provide the workforce, hence solving the unemployment problem in this country.

Concerning Dr. Chukwu, agriculture is a sure way to better Nigeria’s economy, as it would create employment opportunities for over 75% of its citizens. In this nation, a larger percentage of people lack access to clean cooking; these ethanol plants would be an addition to alleviating this problem.

The project is bound to galvanize economic growth, generate employment, and give birth to allied industries. By switching over to bioethanol, Nigeria shall be able to enjoy better energy security and a cleaner environment. Besides, the enhanced demand for cassava will benefit rural farmers, improving their lot.

Next, this partnership will introduce advanced technologies and skills into local communities and build capacity, promoting innovation.
