As many as 153 sugar mills in Maharashtra have participated in the ongoing crushing operations 2021-22 till November 25, 2021. These include 75 private and 78 cooperative sugar mills. The mills have produced 162.37 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 180.99 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.97 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (37) sugar mills participating in the crushing activities this season. The mills have produced 34.99 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 42.96 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.14 per cent.
Kolhapur division has reported a recovery rate of more than 10 per cent. Mills in the region are leading in the state with the highest sugar production. Mills here produced 49.35 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 48.39 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.20 per cent.
