Pune: Sugar mills in Maharashtra have paid a fair and remunerative price (FRP) of Rs 36,380.13 crore, till May 15, which is 96 per cent of the total FRP payable at the minimum recovery per cent. State is leading in terms of sugarcane payment in the country.
As per the cane arrears report sent by Maharashtra government (Sugar commissionerate) to Ministry of Consumer Affairs (GoI) for the 2021-22 season, total payable FRP, as of May 15, is Rs 37,894.02.
The crushing update shows that total 199 sugar mills have participated in the ongoing season and crushed 1272.43 lakh tonnes of sugarcane.
69 sugar mills have made 100 per cent FRP, while 95 mills paid FRP between 80 to 99.99 per cent. 29 sugar mills cleared 60 to 79.99 per cent FRP, and six sugar mills failed to make above 60 per cent cane payment.
State Sugar Commissioner has not issued recovery notice against any mills in the current season.
