Sugarcane crushing is in the last phase in Maharashtra, with a significant number of mills have ended the operations. Currently, the state’s sugar production stands at around 110 lakh tonnes.

Nanded region: 120.67 lakh quintals
Amravati region: 9.39 lakh quintals
Nagpur region: 3.05 lakh quintals

Kolhapur region: 11.59%
Pune region: 10.52%
Solapur region: 9.39%
Ahmednagar region: 9.97%
Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar region: 8.95%
Nanded region: 10.25%
Amravati region: 9.42%
Nagpur region: 6.6%
As of April 23, 2024, sugar mills in Maharashtra have crushed 1,069.09 lakh tonnes of sugarcane and produced 1,096.73 lakh quintals (109.67 lakh tonnes) of sugar. In the current season, out of 207 mills, 200 mills have closed operations and average sugar recovery is 10.26 per cent
