Sensex closes 70 points higher, Nifty above 24,300

Indian equity indices ended on a flat note in the volatile session on April 29.

Sensex ended 70.01 points up at 80,288.38, whereas Nifty concluded 7.45 points up at 24,335.95.

Bharat Electronics, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Eternal and Trent were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Sun Pharma, ONGC, Coal India, UltraTech Cement and Dr Reddy’s Labs.

In the previous season, Sensex closed at 80,218.37 points, up 1,005.84 points or 1.27 per cent and Nifty closed at 24,328.50 points, up 289.15 points or 1.20 per cent, respectively.

Indian rupee ended 22 paise lower at 85.25 per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close of 85.03.
