Sensex crashes 1,049 points; Nifty below 23,100

Indian equity indices ended on weak note for the fourth consecutive sesson on January 13 reacting to a stronger-than-expected US jobs report that dampened hopes for early interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

Sensex ended 1,048.90 points lower at 76,330.01, whereas Nifty concluded 345.55 points down at 23,085.95.

Biggest Nifty losers were Trent, Adani Enterprises, Bharat Electronics, BPCL, Adani Ports, while gainers included TCS, Reliance Industries, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank and HUL.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 241.30 points lower at 77,378.91, whereas Nifty concluded 95 points down at 23,431.50.

Indian rupee ended 61 paise lower at 86.58 per dollar on Monday versus Friday’s close of 85.97.
