Indian benchmark indices ended on a weak note on January 21 amid global uncertainties and weak corporate earnings.
Investor sentiment took a hit as U.S. President Donald Trump’s ambiguous stance on trade tariffs created unease.
Sensex ended 1,235.08 points lower at 75,838.36, whereas Nifty concluded 320.10 points down at 23,024.65.
Trent, Adani Ports, NTPC, ICICI Bank, SBI were among biggest losers on the Nifty, while gainers included Apollo Hospitals, BPCL, Tata Consumer, JSW Steel, Shriram Finance.
In the previous season, the BSE Sensex ended 454.11 points up at 77,073.44, and the Nifty 50 at the National Stock Exchange was up 141.55 points at 23,344.75.
Indian rupee ended flat at 86.58 per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close of 86.56.
