Mumbai: Equity benchmark Sensex dropped in opening trade on Thursday. At 10:17 am, the 30-share BSE index was trading over 68.25 points lower at 40,726.49, and the broader NSE Nifty fall 20.00 points to 11,951.05.
Tata Steel, ONGC, NTPC, Asian Paints, M&M, Nestle India and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra HCL Tech, TCS, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance and ITC were among the losers.
In the previous season, Sensex closed on October 14, 2020, at 169.23 points high at 40,794.74. Nifty ended 36.55 points high at 11,971.05.
