Mumbai: Due to political uncertainty over the Kashmir issue, Sensex ended 418.38 points lower at 36,699.84. Similarly, NSE Nifty ended 134.75 points up at 10,862.60.
Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp were among the top gainers today.
Top losers in the Sensex pack included Yes Bank, Tata Motors, Power Grid Corporation, Reliance Industries and State Bank of India.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee was trading 90 paise lower at 70.50 against the US dollar.
The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.74 per cent lower to USD 61.43 per barrel.
