Mumbai: The equity benchmark indices ended higher today. Sensex closed, on March 16, 1,039.80 points higher at 56,816.65. Nifty ended 312.35 points higher at 16,975.35.
In the previous season, the 30 stock S&P BSE Sensex closed 709.17 points or 1.26 per cent down at 55,776.85 points against its previous day’s close at 56,486.02 points. The broader Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange slumped 208.30 points or 1.23 per cent to 16,663.00 points against its previous day’s close at 16,871.30 points.
UltraTech Cement, Axis Bank, Shree Cements, IndusInd Bank and Bajaj Auto were among the top Nifty gainers, while losers were Cipla, Sun Pharma, Tata Consumer Products and Power Grid Corporation.
