Mumbai: The equity benchmark indices ended higher today. Sensex closed, on February 25, 1,328.61 points higher at 55,858.52. Nifty ended 410.45 points higher at 16,658.40.
In the previous season, the benchmark Sensex of the BSE crashed 2702.15 points or 4.72 per cent to 54,529.91 points. The broader Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange dipped 815.30 points or 4.78 per cent to 16,247.95 points.
Coal India, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Adani Ports and IndusInd Bank were among gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Britannia Industries, Nestle India and HUL.
