Indian benchmark indices ended on a strong note on April 17.
Sensex ended 1,508.91 points up at 78,553.20, whereas Nifty concluded 414.45 points higher at 23,851.65.
Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma, Eternal were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Wipro, Hero MotoCorp, Tech Mahindra, Coal India and JSW Steel.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 309.40 points up at 77,044.29, whereas Nifty concluded 108.65 points higher at 23,437.20.
Indian rupee ended 31 paise higher at 85.37 per dollar on Thursday versus Wednesday’s close of 85.68.
