Benchmark indices ended Wednesday’s trading session with losses ahead of the May series futures, thereby breaking the three-day streak when they closed at record high levels, ahead of expiry of May series F&O contracts.
At close, the Sensex was down 247.68 points at 39,502.05, while Nifty was down 67.70 points at 11,861.10.
JSW Steel, SBI, Tata Steel, Cipla and Zee Entertainment were major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Sun Pharma, Bharti Infratel, TCS, GAIL and HCL Tech.
Among the sectors, except IT all other indices are trading in the red led by PSU Bank, infra, auto, metal, energy, FMCG and pharma.
