The equity benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended higher on May 17.
Sensex ended 253.31 points up at 73,917.03, whereas Nifty concluded 62.25 points higher at 22,466.10.
From the Sensex basket, Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, UltraTech Cement, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ITC and Maruti Suzuki India were the major gainers. Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India, Wipro and Bajaj Finserv were the biggest laggards.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 676.69 points up at 73,663.72, whereas Nifty concluded 203.30 points higher at 22,403.85.
