Mumbai: Benchmark indices ended higher. Sensex closed on 29 December at 259.33 points higher at 47,613.08. Nifty ended 59.40 points high at 13,932.60.
In the previous season, Sensex closed on 28 December at 380.21 points higher at 47,353.75. Nifty ended 123.95 points high at 13,873.20.
IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Hindalco, Nestle, Coal India, Tata Motors and NTPC.
