The domestic benchmark indices ended lower on January 18.
Sensex ended 313.90 points lower at 71,186.86, whereas Nifty concluded 109.70 points down at 21,462.25.
Top losers on the Nifty included LTIMindtree, HDFC Bank, NTPC, Titan Company and Asian Paints, while gainers were Sun Pharma, Cipla, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors and Axis Bank.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 1,628.02 points lower at 71,500.76, whereas Nifty concluded 460.35 points down at 21,571.95.
