Mumbai: Sensex ended 462.80 down at 37,018.32. Similarly, NSE Nifty ended 105.40 points low at 10,980.
Maruti, Power Grid, Reliance, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, HUL and NTPC were among the top gainers today rising up to 1.86 per cent.
Top losers in the Sensex pack included Vedanta, Tata Motors, SBI, Yes Bank, Bharti Airtel and Infosys falling up to 5.55 per cent.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee was 26 paise lower at 69.06 against the US dollar.
The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 1.05 per cent lower to USD 64.37 per barrel.
