The equity benchmark indices ended lower today. On April 23, Sensex closed 617.26 points lower at 56,579.89. Nifty ended 186.70 points lower at 16,985.25.
In the previous season, on April 22, Sensex closed 714.53 points lower at 57,197.15. Nifty ended 220.65 points lower at 17,171.95.
Coal India, BPCL, Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries and SBI Life Insurance were among the top Nifty losers while gainers included Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki and HDFC.
