Sensex ends 642 points lower as Saudi Arabia’s Aramco attacks hit market

Mumbai: Fearing that the hike in crude prices following attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil refinery could hurt the economy further, markets came under heavy selling pressure. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das had said on Monday that India’s current account and fiscal deficit could take a hit if oil prices continue to rise after the attack.

Sensex ended today on 17th September 2019 at 642.22 points lower at 36,481.09. Similarly, NSE Nifty too ended 185.90 down at 10,817.60.

Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, HDFC were among the top losers today in early trade.

Top gainers included Hero Motocorp, HUL, Infosys, and Asian Paints

In the previous season on Monday, Sensex ended at 261.68 points lower at 37,123.31. Similarly, NSE Nifty too ended 72.40 down at 11,003.50.

The rupee was trading at 71.908 against the dollar.
