The equity benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty witnessed resurgence on May 16 closing at nearly two-week highs.
Sensex ended 676.69 points up at 73,663.72, whereas Nifty concluded 203.30 points higher at 22,403.85.
From the Sensex basket, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Titan Company and JSW Steel were the major gainers. Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Motors, State Bank of India, Power Grid Corporation of India, IndusInd Bank and Tata Steel were the biggest laggards.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 117.58 points down at 72,987.03, whereas Nifty concluded 17.30 points lower at 22,200.55.
