Mumbai: Benchmark indices closed lower today. Sensex closed on 22 January at 746.22 points lower at 48,878.54. Nifty ended 218.45 points low at 14,371.90.
In the previous season, Sensex closed on 21 January at 167.36 points lower at 49,624.76. Nifty ended 54.35 points low at 14,590.35.
Axis Bank, Asian Paints, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries and SBI were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers included Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Eicher Motors, HUL and TCS.
