Mumbai: The equity benchmark indices ended lower today. Sensex closed, on March 2, 778.38 points lower at 55,468.90. Nifty ended 187.95 points lower at 16,605.95.
In the previous season, Sensex closed, on February 28, 388.76 points higher at 56,247.28. Nifty ended 135.50 points higher at 16,793.90.
Among the sectors, the auto and banking index shed 2 percent each while buying was seen in metals and power stocks.
