Indian benchmark indices remained muted throughout the day. Sensex closed lower and Nifty ended flat on Wednesday.
Sensex ended 45.46 points lower at 73,466.39, whereas Nifty concluded with no change at 22,302.50.
Half of the 30 stocks on the BSE Sensex ended in the red. Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank, and HCLTech, were the top drags for the day, while Tata Motors, Power Grid Corp., NTPC, Larsen & Toubro, and Maruti Suzuki India, were the top gainers.
Similarly, half of the 50 stocks on the Nifty 50 also ended in the red. Dr Reddy’s, Asian Paints, Grasim Industries, UltraTech Cement, and HDFC Bank were the top drags, while BPCL, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, Hindalco, and Coal India were the top gainers for the day.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 383.69 points lower at 73,511.85, whereas Nifty concluded 140.20 points down at 22,302.50.
