Mumbai: Sensex today on Thursday was trading 220.26 points higher at 40,272.13, while NSE Nifty surged 64.80 points at 11,908.90 in morning trade.
Similarly, at 10:08 am, Sensex was trading at 40,257 points, and Nifty was trading at 11,907 points.
SBI, Infosys, Tata Motors, Yes Bank and Sun Pharma were among the top gainers.
M&M, Tata Steel, TechM, PowerGrid and Axis Bank were among the top losers.
On the currency front, the rupee appreciated 6 paise against the US dollar to trade at 70.83 in early session.
