The equity benchmark indices ended marginally higher in the volatile session on August 23.
Sensex ended 33.02 points higher at 81,086.21, whereas Nifty concluded 11.65 points up at 24,823.15.
Top gainers on the Nifty were Bajaj Auto, Coal India, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma and Bharti Airtel, while losers included Wipro, ONGC, Divis Labs, LTIMindtree and Infosys.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 147.89 points higher at 81,053.19, whereas Nifty concluded 41.30 points up at 24,811.50.
