Mumbai: Sensex on Monday was trading 213.78 points higher at 40,573.19, while NSE Nifty surged 257.65 points at 11,972.05 in morning trade.
Similarly, at 10:09 am, Sensex was trading at 40,582 points, and Nifty was trading at 11,977.20 points.
Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Sun Pharma, Vedanta, RIL were among the top gainers.
Bajaj, ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, Asian Paints, and ONGC were among the top losers today.
On the currency front, the rupee depreciated marginally against the US dollar to trade at 71.72 in early session.
