After the Monday mayhem, Indian equity indices ended higher on January 07.
Sensex ended 234.12 points higher at 78,199.11, whereas Nifty concluded 91.85 points up at 23,707.90.
ONGC, SBI Life Insurance, Tata Motors, HDFC Life, Reliance Industries were among the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers were HCL Tech, TCS, Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Trent.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 1,258.12 points lower at 77,964.99, whereas Nifty concluded 388.70 points down at 23,616.05.
Indian rupee ended 10 paise higher at 85.72 per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close of 85.82.
The markets witnessed huge selling pressure on Monday due to panic selling amid Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) fears.
