Mumbai: The BSE Sensex slips today 86.88 points and closed at 38,736.23. Similarly, Nifty fell 30 points to 11,552.50.
Top losers in the Sensex pack included Bajaj Finance, ONGC, IndusInd Bank, PowerGrid, L&T, Axis Bank, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank falling up to 2.08 per cent.
Vedanta, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Hero MotoCorp Corp, and Yes Bank were among the top gainers today rising up to 2.44 per cent.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee depreciated 13 paise to 68.57 against the US dollar.
The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.89 per cent higher at USD 67.11 per barrel.
