Mumbai: The BSE Sensex settled 305.88 points lower at 38,031.13. Similarly, Nifty ended 82.10 points down at 11,337.15.
Yes Bank, Vedanta, RIL, Asian Paints, Maruti and Sun Pharma were among the top gainers today rising up to 9.49 per cent.
Top losers in the Sensex pack included HDFC, HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, HUL, Bajaj Finance, ITC, SBI, M&M and PowerGrid falling up to 3.08 per cent.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee depreciated 17 paise to 68.97 against the US dollar.
The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 2.15 per cent higher at $63.82 per barrel.
