Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: District collector Jasjeet Kaur convened the meeting of the representatives of the sugar mills and directed them to clear the pending cane dues of farmers on a priority basis. DM warned that if the mills fail to clear dues on time, they will face action as per the rule.
The sugar mills in the district have paid Rs 922.53 crore against due of Rs 1216.58 crore. The DM has asked the mills to ensure that they clear dues to the cane farmers as early as possible.
Uttar Pradesh government has asked sugarcane department to ensure sugar mills pay cane payment on time. Sugar mills claim they are suffering from the financial crisis and unable to pay cane dues.
