Shamli: Kisan Mazdoor Sangh demands to clear cane dues

Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Thakur Puran Singh, the national president of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangh, held a meeting with farmers in the village of Hiranwada, where he issued a warning that no weighing scales would be allowed in any village until the outstanding sugarcane payments to farmers are settled, reported Amar Ujala.

Puran Singh highlighted that the government had promised in its election manifesto to ensure sugarcane payments within 14 days. However, he noted that sugar mills have not yet fulfilled this commitment. He announced a large gathering scheduled for October 23 at the Meerut Commissioner’s office to discuss unpaid sugarcane dues and the installation of meters on water pumps, encouraging all farmers to participate.

The meeting was chaired by Ram Naresh Sharma and facilitated by Kanwar Pal Sharma. Several local leaders, including Thakur Ombeer Singh, village head Neeraj Pundir, Suresh Pundir, Lakhan Thakur, Thakur Deshpal Singh, Thakur Bijender Singh, Naresh Tomar, Jalsingh, Shubham Rana, Joli Rana, and Krishan Pal, were also in attendance.
