Pune: Sugar mills in the Solapur division have produced 160.13 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 171.60 lakh tonne sugarcane during the on-going season.
As per the data released by the sugar commissionerate, 187 sugar mills participated in the cane crushing operations and till March 11, these mills have produced 918.55 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 886.52 lakh tonne sugarcane. The sugar recovery rate has been recorded at 10.36 %.
Seven sugar mills in the Kolhapur division, 2 mills from Amaravati and 1 each from Nanded, Aurangabad and Pune have shut the operations. Till date, 41 sugar mills have stopped operations including 29 sugar mills from the Solapur division.
