Sugar production in Maharashtra continues to rise as the sugar mills in the state are crushing sugarcane at a fast pace. As many as 189 sugar mills have produced 449.06 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 464.50 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.67 per cent till December 30.
Total 44 sugar mills are operating in the Solapur division and they are nearing the mark of 100 lakh quintal sugar production. The mills have produced 97.28 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 111.21 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.75 per cent.
Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have produced 123.74 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 112.70 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.98 per cent.
