In Maharashtra, 194 sugar mills are operating this crushing season as against 190 mills in the last season. Solapur is leading in the state for running maximum sugar mills during the ongoing crushing season.
According to the data released by the sugar commissionerate, up to January 27, 2022, a total of 194 sugar mills, including 96 cooperative mills and 98 private mills, have produced 693.56 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 692.31 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.02 per cent.
In the Solapur division, 45 sugar mills have produced 148.23 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 164.11 lakh tonnes of sugarcane till January 27.
Kolhapur division is leading in the state in terms of sugar production. The mills in the division have produced 188.58 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 165.21 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.41 per cent.
