Cape Town: Sugar industry in South Africa is struggling due to various reason, therefore there was a demand to take steps to ensure local industry recovers from the crisis. And now the stakeholders have agreed to support the local sugar sector by buying locally.
Ebrahim Patel, Minister of Trade and Industry, South Africa said, “This will boost the sale of sugar from the domestic market. All the players including local users, food companies and the retailers have come over the consensus and have signed an agreement in this regard.”
South Africa is flooded with sugar after cheap imports following which domestic sugar prices dwindled.
