Ponda: The state government is ready to promote ethanol production plant at the Sanjivani sugar mill, Dharbandora, reports Herald Goa.
The Agriculture Department of the state government has floated the ‘Request for Proposal’ asking the interested parties to participate in the redevelopment of the sugar mill.
Narendra Sawaikar, former MP and President of the Sugarcane Production Facilitation Committee said, “The project will begin on a public-private basis and we are expecting it to start in the coming year.”
The government had appointed a sugarcane production facilitation committee that has submitted the report regarding the ethanol project and the government is acting on it.
The ethanol project will help Goa in reducing pollution and increase the income of cane farmers.
