The Swachhata Pakhwada–Swachhata Hi Seva 2023 campaign is witnessing extensive participation from people across the nation. Citizens are uniting to clean their neighborhoods, public places, bus stops, metro stations, railway tracks, hills, beaches, tourist destinations, and garbage dumps.
Similarly, in a notification issued to sugar factories, government has asked them to maintain and encourage cleanliness in factories and surrounding areas and to share the photographs and videos of the relevant areas taken before and after the cleanliness drive. The activities undertaken may be given publicity over national/regional media using print/digital media platforms to spread awareness.
Efforts are being-made by the Govt. of India to make success of Swachhta Abhiyan by giving it highest priority. In this regard, Swachchta Pakhwada from 15th – 30th September, 2023 is being observed by all Government functionaries including Department of Food & Public Distribution. Further, Swachchta Diwas is to be celebrated on 01st and 2nd October, 2023. The Theme for this campaign is “Garbage Free India”.
According to the notification, the objective of the initiative are – Reinvigorating community participation i.e. jan andolan towards Swachh Bharat Mission
>Cleanliness drive resulting in a visibly cleaner nation
>Gamify cleaning – daily reporting and monitoring
>Repair and refurbishment of all SBM assets like litter bins, public toilets, dhalaos, waste transport vehicles, MRFS etc
> Public involvement in journey of waste
> Engagement with farmers and employees including visits to waste processing plants
> SHC shramdan and 3R initiatives culminating in SHG Sammelan
>SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivirs
> Clearing of legacy dumpsites and Garbage Vulnerable Points
>Special programs, cultural events promoting sanitation journey
The activities may be shared on media platforms using official hashtags i.e. #SwachhBharat, #GarbageFreeIndia and #SHS2023 on official handles i.e. @SwachhBharatGov, @swachhbharat, @PMOIndia. A suggestive list of activities may be seen at Annexure.
Shri Anant Khasbardar of Kolhapur, Maharashtra has designed the Logo of Swachh Bharat while Ms. Bhagyasri Sheth of Rajkot, Gujarat provided the tagline for the Logo. Spectacles of Mahatma Gandhi with its bridge in the Tricolour signifies, the nation uniting to achieve the vision of Mahatma for a clean India.
