Dehradun: The sugar mill in Doiwala is facing a shortage of sugarcane, leading to the management issuing a first notice to end the crushing season. The mill’s daily sugarcane crushing capacity is 25,000 quintals, but the insufficient supply has made it difficult to operate, reported Amar Ujala.
Consequently, the mill management has initiated the process to conclude the current sugarcane crushing season, with the first notice scheduled for February 29.
The mill receives sugarcane supplies from 54 additional purchase centers beyond the mill gate. However, due to the shortage of sugarcane, the operation of the mill has encountered obstacles.
Dinesh Pratap Singh, Executive Director – of Sugar Mill said the shortage of sugarcane supply hampers the smooth functioning of the mill, causing operational losses. Therefore, an appeal has been made to sugarcane farmers to expedite the supply of sugarcane to the mill.
